Peterson, James Robert 10/28/1927 - 7/15/2020 Palm Beach Gardens, Florida James Robert Peterson, 92, was born and grew up in Momence, Illinois. He was the second of three children of Clyde Peterson and Pearl Deliere. He entered the US Navy during WWII at the age of 17, becoming an aircraft carrier fighter pilot and serving on five different US Navy carriers. He was enrolled in the Navy's V-12 program, graduating from the University of Illinois. While a Lieutenant Jim married Betty Claire Windham, a loving marriage lasting over 63 years. After graduation he began his business career with the Pillsbury Company of Minneapolis, rising to the position of President. A longtime member of the community of Edina, Jim was a founding member of Good Samaritan United Methodist Church. During his varied and highly successful career he would go on to hold board of director positions in no less than 14 corporate and institutional boards. He was especially fond of his 17 years of service on the Board of Saint Olaf College. Jim was pre-deceased by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his brother (William) & his sister (Mary Clark). He has four children Richard (Julie), Lynn Windham, Susan Windham (Jim Smith) and John (Michele). Jim loved telling you all about his 10 grandchildren Wyeth, Lindsay, Bret, Cameron, Andrew, Kelly, James, Hunter, Taylor, and Alexa and 7 great grandchildren Athalia, Braylon, Adalynn, Norah, Shepherd, Charlie, and Brydon. He especially enjoyed family vacations, skiing in Snowmass Colorado, international travel, photo safaris in Africa with Betty, anything to do with golf and was an ardent student of history.
