Chantooni, Miran K., Jr. Age 91, of Minneapolis, MN passed away on June 5th, 2020. Growing up, Miran's mother had instilled a love for music in her children. Miran began composing piano stanzas in grade school and and by high school, he had composed the football rouser at Roosevelt High School. He had his sights set on becoming a professional composer but his father thought he could not earn a steady income as a composer and suggested he turn his sights to career in science. In high school, Miran was known as "a walking encyclopedia." He won the Whiz Kid competition in high school, even when pitted against the seniors. He worked on mathematical equations and continued to use those same equations and formulas during his impressive and devoted chemistry career. He began his career as a chemist in education by earning his Master's Degree in Chemistry under Dr. Tanford through the University of Iowa. In 1961, he received his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Minnesota where for the next 30 years, he would serve as the senior postdoctoral associate to the Father of Analytic Chemistry, Dr. Izaak Kolthoff.
