Wood, James Sr. "Jim" Age 89, Entered Into Glory on 6/4/2020, just 38 days short of his 90th birthday on July 12th. Jim died peacefully at home surrounded by his children and loving wife "Kay" of 67 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Evelyn M. Wood; granddaughter, Kami Talley; sisters, Elizabeth Froberg, Kathleen Kerber and his best childhood friends, Hank Schroeder and Blain Andrada. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine (Kay) Wood; children, James Wood Jr. and wife Lorie, Tom Wood and wife Becky, J. Sheldon Wood and wife Karen, David Wood, Deborah Wood-Talley, Mary Weidman (John), Karen Sebesta (Dan) and Dianna Wood; 20 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Thomas as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim owned his own barber shop, "Jim's Barber Shop" where he worked for over twenty years. Jim then went on to work as a U.S. Postal Worker for over 20 years before his retirement in 1992. He loved spending time with his children and making new adventures by going camping, swimming, spending lots of time on Lake Minnetonka waterskiing, boating, and so much more. Jim's hobbies included collecting Replicas of HESS trucks, with over 100 trucks in his collection. He was a Sgt. in the US Marine Corp, serving proudly from 1948-1951. Most notably, Jim fought in Korea at the Chosin Resevoir aka "The time that hell froze over" his great pride in the Marines was unceasing. Semper Fi, Sergeant! Jim will also be sadly missed by his jet black cat named Precious. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020 at River of Life Church, 21695 Elk Lake Road, Elk River. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata and one hour prior to the service at church.
