Chaffee, Marcia Lou 86 of St. Louis Park and formerly Winona, passed away peacefully on Monday June 1st, 2020 at Methodist Hospital. Marcia was born June 29th, 1933 in Winona to Harold and Myra Veir. She attended the University of Minnesota where she received her undergraduate degree with honors in Journalism. Marcia met William (Bill) Kay Chaffee of Carrington, North Dakota at the University of Minnesota and on March 30, 1958, Marcia married Bill at Central Methodist Church in Winona. They made their home in St. Louis Park for more than 30 years where they raised four sons. Marcia enjoyed writing, reading, knitting, painting, decorating, camping and other outdoor activities. Whether on the North Shore of Lake Superior or on the shores of the Pacific in Big Sur, California, one of her greatest pleasures was to sit and enjoy the serenity of the water. Above all she treasured spending time with her four sons. Even though she did not particularly enjoy watching sports or duck hunting, she attended every one of their hockey, football and baseball games and duck hunted with them every year. She also cherished the company of her eleven grandchildren and her daughters-in-law as she often mentioned it made her life complete seeing her sons married to four beautiful and accomplished women. When her husband retired, Bill and Marcia fulfilled a lifelong dream of living on a sailboat in San Diego and traveling the country in a large RV. After these adventures Marcia and Bill returned to Winona to finish out the final 23 years of their lives in their beautiful home overlooking the Mississippi River and the city of Winona. Marcia is survived by her sons, Todd (Kathryn) of San Francisco, CA, Robert (Pam) of Zimmerman, MN, Mark (Naomi) of Loretto, MN and Christopher (Angela) of St. Louis Park, MN and by her eleven grandchildren. She is preceded by the death of her parents, her daughter Linda, her daughter-in-law Karen, and her beloved husband Bill. Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, there will not be a public memorial or funeral service. Marcia would want memorials to-be directed to Save the Boundary Waters. savetheboundarywaters.org/….
