Robbins, Mary Louise "Twink" Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, homemaker and dedicated community volunteer, passed away peacefully May 7th at the age of 95. Born on November 20th, 1924 in Great Falls, Montana, Twink was the daughter of Fred and Amy Davies and older sister to Fred M. Davies. She graduated in 1946 from Stanford University, where she met her beloved husband, Nat, and earned a B.A. in Political Science. Not long after they married and moved back to Minnesota, Nat introduced her to sailing and enjoyed telling people that Twink had never been in a boat of any kind until 1954 when she climbed into his E boat and became a loyal crew member for 20 years racing on Lake Minnetonka. Twink loved bridge, golf, tennis, travel, gardening and motor cruising from the Great Lakes to the Bahamas with Nat for 30 years after they retired from sailing. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining a wide circle of friends from bridge club, poker club, sailing, golf and tennis. Her sparkling personality and easy smile made it obvious why her college friends gave her the nickname, Twink. She sewed her own clothes in high school, gained her pilot's license with the intent to join the Women's Air Corps in 1944 and became a tireless community volunteer in Minneapolis. She was on the Board of Directors with the Junior League of Minneapolis from 1957-64 and vice-president in 1959-60. She was on the Board of Directors with Pillsbury-Waite Neighborhood Services from 1966-74 and Secretary from 1968-70. She was on the United Way Budget Panel from 1970-72. She was President of the St. Barnabas Hospital Junior Auxiliary from 1954-56. She was on the Board of Directors of Stephens Square from 1973-76. She was President of the Alpha Phi Alumni Association in 1955-56. Twink was a woman of strong faith and served on the altar guild of every church she belonged to. She was the patient family photographer, a premier letter writer with perfect handwriting and flawless grammar and famous in the family for her turn of phrase: "Gadzooks! You are full of beans! Cuteheart, you are such a kickShe's a good egg!" We will miss her dearly. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Nat; by her three children, Denise Lassey (Doug), Nat Robbins, Jr. (Linda) and Andrea Collins (Jeff); by six grandchildren, Jennie, Mary, Sydney, Alex, Amy and Emily, and by 11 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Friendship Village in Bloomington for their loving care. A memorial service may be held in the Fall, details to be announced.
