Edward Joseph Krzesowiak, Sr.
Krzesowiak, Edward Joseph, Sr. age 95, passed away peacefully with family near and dear on April 9th, 2020. Born in Minneapolis, Ed spent his life on Victory Memorial Drive. Leaving to serve his country in WWII, he returned to the Parkway to make a life with his loving wife of 65 years, Colleen. In addition to his membership in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Ed worked as a manufacturer's representative, co-owned TC Electric, and was the owner of Minneapolis institution, Mike's Bar. He spent his summers on the family houseboat on the St. Croix, and flying small engine planes as a recreational pilot. He taught his grandchildren to drive and make a bagel, overriding all our protests that there actually are limits to cream cheese and speed on a curving country road. An avid outdoorsman, Ed was a hunter, golfer, and one-time fishing tournament winner. In his retirement, he spent his days traveling, working out at the YMCA, meticulously photographing any and all occasions, and driving his backhoe around his family property in Pope county. Ever the leader, he spent his last year outmaneuvering wheelchaired opponents to become a kingpin of nursing home wars. His parents, Emilia and Michael Krzesowiak preceded Edward in death, along with the love of his life Colleen "Cokie" LaRue. He is survived by his sons John, Edward Jr. & James (Diane). Will forever be 'Papa' to his grandchildren Mary, Melissa, Desta, Debra, Michael (Brooke), Adrian, & James Jr.; and 'Big Papa' to great-grandchildren Peyton, who he always made smile, and 'mini big papa' Cohen, who inherited all the stubbornness. Celebration of life ceremony to be announced. Memorials preferred to Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or The Special Olympics of MN.
