Kenny, William J. PhD Age 89 of Bloomington, MN of COVID19 Born October 18th, 1930, raised in Berwyn, IL, died, Easter Sunday, April 12th, 2020. Preceded in death by parents William and Emily Kenny, sister Lorraine, brother Richard and grandson Ben Steensgard. Survived by wife of 65 years, Carole; daughters Ann (David) Steensgard, Marie (A. El Haddi) Kenny, Jeanne (Larry) Kenny; sons Bill (Kim) Kenny, Mike (Julia) Kenny, and Steven P. Kenny; sisters Ellie (Merle) Peden, Patricia (Jim) Jeraktis, sister-in-law Konnie Kenny and brother Tom (Cookie) Kenny, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grand-children, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill earned his BS in chemical engineering from Purdue and his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of MN, where he met the love of his life, Carole, at a dance at the Newman Center. Control Data employee for 36 years; proud engineer and active parishioner of Nativity of Mary Church. Avid camper, bicyclist, photographer, cross country skier, furniture designer and builder, voracious reader and ice-cream lover; founder of "Kenny Industries", terrible singer and champion "Dad Joke" teller. He was proud to raise his children to "not be a burden on society". He was smart and had integrity, he was a stubborn guy who was also very loving. He could always help us troubleshoot electrical, appliance and car problems. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He prayed for us all to be instruments of peace.
