Wurm, Bernard Nicholas Age 83, of Ramsey, MN, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, March 24, 2020. He was the oldest of nine children born to Nicholas and Bernadette (Kraft) Wurm on April 15, 1936, at the family farm in Pine City, MN. He attended Country School District #9 until 8 th grade and graduated from Pine City High School in 1954. He worked as a farm hand and at the hardware store in Pine City for two years. He joined the US Navy and served from 1956-1960. He was on the USS Wasp and Independence aircraft carriers. He was trained as a Machinist Mate and learned how to operate boilers. He traveled to Europe and the Middle East and had an audience with Pope Pius XII. After his discharge he worked for Holetz Garage in Pine City, the Elk River Power Plant, General Mills and finally as a boiler operator for Mercy Hospital for 27 years. He retired in 1998. He married Patricia Pedginski on August 21, 1965, and to that union three girls were born. Pat passed away in 1988. In 1999 he married Elizabeth (Stoffel) Hoffman. Bernie enjoyed his antiques, especially his Model T cars and John Deere tractors. He loved gardening and grew many beautiful flowers, pumpkins, apples and raspberries. He was preceded in death by first wife, Patricia; parents, Nicholas and Bernadette; sister, Antoinette; brothers, Donald, Jerome, James, and Mark. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty; daughters, Colleen (Mike) King, Lisa (Dan) Weiss, and Nancy Wurm; grandchildren:, Patricia, Matthew W, Jenna, Matthew K, Meghan, and Amanda; stepchildren, Karen (Doug) Berg, Leanne (Matt) Struve, Scott Hoffman, Kristie Hoffman, and Jeff (Sybil) Hoffman; grandchildren, Anika, Lily, Will, Aiden; sisters, Winifred (Tom) Gleason, Susan (Bill) Varnum, Geraldine (Joe) Sausen; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
