MacKenzie, Duncan Farquhar Age 87, passed peacefully after a long journey with Parkinson's disease on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020. Preceded in death by oldest daughter Paula Rosen, survived by his wife Rita; children David (Gina) and Sandra Michelsen; grandchildren David Rosen, Jordan Rosen, and Kelson MacKenzie. Born in Duluth, raised in Minneapolis, long-time resident of St. Louis Park, MN, Duncan was a graduate of West High 1950. He enlisted in the US Navy performing flight deck operations, with an honorable discharge in 1955. He met Rita while singing in the church choir, and they married in 1958. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duncan taught 6th grade for Minnetonka Schools. A fan of choral music, Duncan sang 1st tenor in several church choirs and other choruses, notably for the Apollo Club of Minneapolis. Also a fan of bagpipes, Duncan learned to pipe and even soloed for a handful of wedding ceremonies. Duncan enjoyed taking his grandsons camping and seeing their sporting events, reading the latest spy or seafaring novel, munching a bowl of popcorn, and driving a charter bus. Please direct memorials to school-age meal and care programs. Services have been deferred at this time. Private family interment at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis planned.
