Mathre, Donna age 84, of Northfield, MN died peacefully Fri., Feb. 7, 2020. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Tues., February 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 West Third St., Northfield, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling at 1:45 PM. Donna Marie Kasa was born in Northfield on August 16, 1935 to Austin and Ida (Remme) Kasa. After graduating from Northfield HS in 1953, she earned a BA and taught home economics and art. Donna married Sewell Mathre in 1964 and they raised their children in Northfield while actively engaged in their church and community. Donna was a creative and social store owner who opened The Yarn Bin in 1971. Later she ran her popular d. Mathre Gifts on Division Street where she counted her customers as friends. She liked to golf, downhill ski and spend time at her family's cabin in Lutsen, MN.. Donna was generous with her time in serving others and was a wonderful role model. She is survived by her children, Karin (Scott) Kispert of Burnsville, Steve (Lisa) Mathre of Northfield, and Kris (Gig) Willson of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Ali and Kyle Kispert, Austin Mathre, Halle and Harrison Dowd and Zach and Jake Willson. biermanfuneralhome.com
