Hegg, Lowell Harold Born in Cyrus, Minnesota on May 29, 1926 to Harold and Alma Rowberg Hegg. Died January 27, 2020 at the age of 93. Preceded in death by his brother, Donald. Lowell is survived by his wife of 72 years, Maxine Hagen Hegg; daughter, Kathleen (Carson) Bench; in-laws, Shirl Rice Hegg and Harland and Rachel Hagen, and many nieces and nephews. He attended schools in Minneapolis and Hanley Falls, Minnesota and was awarded a high school equivalency certificate before enlisting in the Coast Guard in 1943 at the age of 17. He served his country during WWII aboard the USS Hunter Liggett in the Pacific where he was a landing boat coxswain. Following vocational training, he worked as an operating engineer in the dairy and jewelry manufacturing businesses. During the 1960s he restored a 1928 Stude-baker Commander and in 1973 was awarded first place for his work by the Antique Automobile Club of America. Following retirement, he began making knives and was a skilled perfectionist at his craft. He and Maxine enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona. Funeral will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 1st at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Ave S., Minneapolis 55410 with visitation at the church at 10 AM. Memorials preferred to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Foundation.
