Dennis David Dzubay, 80, of Aitkin, MN; and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico (formerly of Plymouth, MN); died Sunday, December 29, 2019, at his son Michael’s side in Plymouth.

Dennis was born August 11, 1939, in Amery, WI, the son of Peter and Mildred (Anderson) Dzubay. His family later moved to Richfield, Minnesota, where he attended Richfield High School and graduated in 1957. Active in scouts, he rose to the highest rank of Eagle Scout. An avid photographer, actor, and student council member, Dennis was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” his senior year, and that he did, in many ways. He worked at Sears as a portrait photographer and later worked briefly for his father, who owned an HVAC store. He attended Dunwoody Institute and University of Minnesota and later started working for Bryant, where he stayed for more than 30 years.

In 1960, Dennis married his church youth group sweetheart, Donna Louise Rothe, a woman with whom he would be for nearly 56 years until her passing June 5, 2016. The two raised five children and moved to various locations between Minnesota and Wisconsin as Dennis climbed the ladder of responsibility at Bryant. After settling in Plymouth and retiring in 2004, Dennis and Donna spent their summers in Aitkin and winters in Puerto Vallarta, actively serving through many organizations including Lions Club, Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, First Baptist Community Church, International Friendship Club, and Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza, an orphanage in Puerto Vallarta. For them, servitude was demonstrated not only through financial donations but through working with those who would otherwise go unserved.

Dennis is survived by his children Michael (Robin) Dzubay, Plymouth; Steve (Kristi) Dzubay, Apple Valley; Tim Dzubay, Kansas City, MO; Katie (Jon) Thoma, St. Louis Park; and Sasha Dzubay, Chicago, IL; grandchildren Kassy, D.J., and Denny; sister Ann Heinrich, Danbury, WI; brother Greg (Pat) Dzubay, Peoria, AZ; and Peter (Karen) Dzubay, Perham, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.,Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayzata, MN, with lunch to follow. Visitation will be at 10 a.m.
