Stanko, James Melvin 8/1/1936 - 12/13/19 Born in Mpls. Preceded in death by beloved wife, Joan, and parents John & Margaret. Survived by children Paul David Stanko (Thomas Kowalski) and Rachelle Stanko (Mike Belknap), his adored granddaughter, Annelene Belknap, sister-in-law Barbara Ann Crandall as well as many wonderful & caring nephews and nieces. Jim was passionate about helping others and was part of Habitat for Humanity, Loaves & Fishes, as well as a dedicated member and avid volunteer at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. If Jim knew someone needed help, he was the first person there. He retired from Honeywell as a Military Avionics engineer after more than 40 years and started working at Washburn-McReavey, where he worked until 2015. His true passion, outside of his family, was gardening. He was known far and wide for having the most beautiful gardens and impeccable lawn. Please join the family as they remember Jim on Saturday, January 4 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. Visitation at 10 AM; funeral at 11AM followed by desserts and coffee. In lieu of flowers, memorials/gifts preferred to Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, MN.
