O'Neill, Gary Thomas Gary Thomas O'Neill, "GTO", joined his loving parents, Adelaide and Edmund in heaven on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the age of 69. "Figure it out" - A note to himself on his bedroom door and a mantra he built into our hearts. GTO was an optimist, never limited by his reality. He was always challenging us to be authentic, curious, adventuresome, and grateful for the beauty of our world and each other. He treasured his children with Ann Marie O'Neill: Mary (Bill), Laura, Edmund (Holly), Thomas (Anni), John, Bridget (Steven), Kathleen (Mike), Teresa (Lindsey), and Elizabeth. Grandpa GTO was an adoring and gentle grandfather to John, Kay Marie, Lily, Seamus, Matilda, Cian, Dennis, Teddy, Ella, Carrick, Keira, and Raymund. Gary is survived by siblings Kathy (Jack), Jim (Cathy), Bill (LuAnn), Margaret, and many friends whom he loved deeply. GTO graduated Hopkins High School in 1968 and spent his early years in politics. He later majored in Finance at St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN, before leaving to run the family business. It was at this company that he designed and manufactured parts for the High Roller wood roller coaster at Valleyfair, the stories of which delight his children and grandchildren. He went on to build a circuit board business in Chicago before moving his family back home to Minnesota to found his own manufacturing company, O-Tech Manufacturing. He wrote us many love letters over the years in the form of research into our areas of interest, humorous attempts to elicit responses to his annual request for clothing sizes, invites to the grandchildren for educational adventures, business ideas, and words of encouragement and gratitude. He told stories like a true Irishman. GTO was a passionate leader in politics and his community throughout his life and taught his children to give back and volunteer. He will be forever in our hearts. Sláinte GTO.
