Lois E. Geib

Geib, Lois E. Lois passed away peacefully on Saturday November 16th while in the loving care of LuAnn's Place in Eden Prairie, her home she so dearly loved and enjoyed over the last year. Lois spent almost her entire life in the Minneapolis area while living a short period of her childhood in Duluth during the depression. She graduated from St. Margaret's Academy in 1945 and went to the University of Minnesota where she met her husband Bob. After marrying and starting a family in Minneapolis they moved to Chicago following Bob's engineering career and then back to Minneapolis until her death. Moving to Minnetonka in 1963, she was busy raising the kids being the family bus driver and Betty Crocker home maker. Even with those busy days she found time to volunteer at St. Therese, Benilde and St. Margaret's. Sharing herself with others was something she enjoyed. With that caring need, she decided later in life to return to school and become a nurse to continue helping others well into her 80's. While nursing she continued volunteering at Little Brothers of the Elderly, Hennepin County Medical Center, Open Circle and Chapel View Care Center. She loved being a mom, grandmother and great grandmother. Most of all she enjoyed the excitement of having all the family together. She not only entertained and fed any and all of the family that was available on Sundays, but later in life treated her children, their spouses and grandchildren to many family vacations. Beginning in the summer of 1994 with a trip to Myrtle Beach, the tradition continued with several tropical cruises, Disney World, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Seattle, Alaska, Canada and many more. Truly family memories that will never be forgotten and will forever bond all our family together. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, her gentle soul and her special compassion for caring and helping others. Lois was preceded in death by her loving parents Carl and Elizabeth MacMillan, infant brother Bobby, daughter Carol and special friend Roy Phenow. She is survived by sons Robert (Patty) of Florida, Thomas (Laura) of Spring Park, James (Vivika) of Phoenix and daughter Mary (Thomas) Shackle of Bloomington; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday November 26, 11 AM at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, with a private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to LuAnn's Place. We will miss her dearly as she would and will leave us with her warm smile, a kiss and her famous "BYE BYE" "BYE BYE" We love you Mom!
