Spencer, Doris Jean Doris Jean Spencer was born July 18, 1935 to Caressa and Wilson May in St Louis, MO. Doris was the eldest of five siblings. The family moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1943. Doris was nurtured academically and spiritually in a very close- knit community, attending Clay Elementary, Phelps Jr High, South High School and St James AME Church. Doris married Leon Burt Spencer in 1955. The mother of four sons. Kieth, Kai (deceased), Dean and Shaun. Doris was an employee of Pilot City, where she was the fourth person hired, Honeywell and the Minneapolis Public Schools, and PSI. In retirement she continued to be an active citizen. Doris passed away peacefully on Monday November 11, 2019 at 2:22 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Hospice. Doris is preceded in death by her loving parents, Caressa and Wilson May; her son, Kai; his father, Leon; three brothers, Alfred (Carol), Ralph (Eleanor), Wilson L. Jr. (Doris). She leaves to morn her passing three sons, Keith Spencer, Dean Spencer and Shaun Vann; her sister Delores Dennard; six grandsons; and a host of relatives and friends. Homegoing Celebration will be held on Thursday November 21 at St Peters AME Church 401 East 41 St. South, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Visitation 11am; Service 12pm.
