William 'Bill' Weast

Weast, William "Bill" Age 78, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. He was born on July 13, 1941 in Lafayette, IN, to Kenneth and Mary (Johnson) Weast. Bill was a graduate of Purdue University and served in the US Army which took him to many exotic places such as Tokyo, Okinawa, and Grand Forks, ND. Bill's assignment while in the Army was to set up SECOR mobile ground stations in strategic points throughout the world. The SECOR system was a predecessor to we now know as Navistar-GPS, or just plain GPS. You're welcome Google Maps! After leaving the Army, Bill worked as a Sales Engineer with Leeds & Northrup, and Rosemount/Emerson, helping to design, install and problem solve electrical instrumentation for some of the largest corporations in the world. Sales meetings, trade shows, golf & lunch outings; Bill shared many good times with his colleagues/work buddies during his working career. Later in life, after he retired, he stared a new career as a clock aficionado, repairing, building and attending clock auctions across the US. He met many interesting people through his clock club and his clients became his good friends. Bill truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with friends and family, traveling and completing a multitude of home projects. There wasn't any task that Bill wasn't willing to tackle and conquer. Bill is survived by his loving wife Dolores, sisters Carol and Barbara, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives Bill touched are invited to the WAYZATA COMMUNTIY CHURCH, 125 Wayzata Blvd. E., Wayzata, MN 55391 on Monday, November 18th at 11:00 am to celebrate his life, reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MN Landscape Arboretum or to the Park Nicollet Frauenshuh Cancer Center. We would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Methodist Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
