Mary Catherine Kirsch

Kirsch, Mary Catherine Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and special friend to many, passed away on October 17, 2019, at the age of 86 after a gradual decline in health. Mary was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan on Nov 25, 1932. She was the seventh child of the farming family of Mary and James McManus, and was raised by her aunt, Dorothy and uncle, Thomas Coughlin in NE Minneapolis, where she met childhood friends Joan and MaryAnn. Mary graduated from St. Anthony high school and then worked as a secretary with the MN Air National Guard. It was there that she met Victor, her husband of 53 years. Together they raised their boys Kyle and Kevin in a special community on Brook Drive in Edina. Mary was gracious, elegant, thoughtfully kind, and so generous. She loved spending time with her many girlfriends, and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, which sometimes landed on her birthday. Very few people could beat her at Scrabble. Mary is survived by her husband, Victor; sons, Kyle, (Kelly), and Kevin; grandsons, Jack, Connor, and Ryan; sister, Phyllis of Racine Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. She greatly mourned the loss of her fourth grandson Quinn at age 8 in 2013. A visitation will be held at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, (5801 Lyn-dale Ave S, Minneapolis) on Tuesday October 22, 5-7 p.m. A celebration of Mary's life follows on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina, and she will be laid to rest at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to quinnscup.org (benefitting the Myocarditis Foundation) or the Animal Humane Society of Minnesota. GILLBROTHERS.com MINNEAPOLIS, MN 612-861-6088
