Susan Kay (Sitarz) McSherry

McSherry, Susan Kay Sitarz Sue passed away peacefully, at home on October 15th at the age of 56, following a valiant battle with Small Cell Cancer. She was married for 32 years to the love of her life, Hugh (Chip) McSherry, and was blessed with eight loving children: Ally Hutton (Nick), Molly (fiancé David Pachuta), Kylie, Keegan, Cade, Macallan, Keely and Riley; her granddaughter, Finlay Hutton; as well as her faithful walking companion, Tugg. Sue is survived by her parents, Richard J. and Natalie (Dillon) Sitarz; brothers, Rick (Robyn), Tim, Mark (Sarah); in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, co-workers and countless friends, who quickly became part of the extended McSherry family. Sue was a lifelong member of the St. Charles Borromeo School community, first as a student, then a parent and volunteer, and finally, as an Administrative Assistant in the school, for almost six years. Sue was also a member of the Totino-Grace School community, as an Alumni, and then as a parent. She graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN in 1986. Sue loved, and was loved by many. People who met her started as strangers, and quickly became family forever. This is evidenced by her large and loyal army of Prayer Warriors, who marched and then carried Sue through the last seven months with prayer, steadfast love, and a willingness to do whatever Sue or her family, needed. She was blessed with more people who loved her, than we have room to name, here. For that, she was constantly in awe, and so very grateful. Sue never let the seriousness of her diagnosis deter her from using it as an opportunity to deepen her faith. She continued praying for other people, listening to and giving advice, and sharing a laugh or quick text to help give her army a lift. She will be greatly missed, but, her legacy of faith, friendship, humor and love will live on through her children, and every person who was touched by her presence. Sue and her family were so grateful to have the talented doctors and medical staff from the U of M. Sue's funeral services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (2727 Stinson Blvd. Minneapolis, MN 55418) and begin with visitation and sharing of memories on Monday, 10/21, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation also on Tuesday, 10/22 at 2:30 PM, with her funeral Mass beginning at 4:00 PM. There will be a dinner served immediately following the Mass. Sue will be interred at Hillside Cemetery, overlooking her beloved Minneapolis skyline. Memorials preferred to the school at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, and Totino-Grace High School.
