Reich, Eugene "Gene" Edmond 94, of Excelsior, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2019 surrounded by family. Gene was born on 10/21/1924 in Delano, MN. Gene is preceded in death by his father Joseph V. Reich; mother Catherine (Czock); daughter Rebecca L. Reich; daughter-in-law Susan K. Reich; brothers Gerald, Joseph (little Joe) and Raymond Reich; sisters Val Wirtz, Margaret (Toots) Seck, Delores (Nino) Holmgren; and many nieces and nephews. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris (Luke) Reich, sons Gregory (Tracie) and Joseph (Lori); son-in-law Dale Johnson, and grandchildren: Andrew, Allie, Nicole, Justin (Lizzy), Zoe (Roth), and Jordan; Great Grandchildren: Rylee and Reagan, and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Excelsior High School, Gene served in WWII on a destroyer escort, The U.S.S. Tinsman. After the war, Gene ran Excelsior Express Trucking Co, during which time he met and married the love of his life, Doris, on 11/18/1950. After a career at General Mills, Gene embarked on a successful 30 year career as a State Farm insurance agent, retiring in 1987. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at Huber Funeral Chapel in Excelsior, MN from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 19 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (23290 Hwy 7 Excelsior, MN) at 11:00AM, visitation starting at 10:00AM at church, with lunch at noon.
