Turos, Ronald John Born in Newark, New Jersey on December 8, 1946. Ron passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents, Adele Soltys Turos and John Turos. As an only child, Ron spent his youth on the family farm in Cherryville, NJ. He attended Franklin Township Elementary School in Quakertown, NJ, (K-8) with the same group of kids each year/grade. In 1965 Ron graduated from East Side High School in Newark, NJ, excelling in both academics and sports. He was the Sports Editor for the school paper and was known for his exceptional writing and witty headlines. Ron enlisted and served in the US Army (1965-1968), including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning, he lived in the Newark area holding a variety of jobs. In 1979, with $500 in his pocket and a suitcase, Ron went to the bus depot, flipped a coin and heads was Minneapolis. Ron and his wife Stacy met at a company party. Stacy tried to set him up with a co-worker but Ron had eyes for Stacy. Ron and Stacy married in the Fall of 1982, their favorite time of year at Como Park. In 1987 at the age of 41, Ron went back to school for an accounting degree, graduating with honors. Ron worked in a variety of accounting jobs until his retirement. From the first Brooklyn Dodger's game he kept score of, baseball and the love of numbers were constant passions in Ron's life. Other hobbies included: reading, music, travel, and home/lawn care. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, MN, on Friday, September 20 from 4 - 6:30 PM.
