Harry Whitley, Nancy K. Age, 62, died on July 9, 2019 after a long journey with cancer. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Anne Harry of Atlanta, GA. Survived by her sweetheart and life partner, Jim Adams. Survived by her beloved children, Zachary Nelson and Anna Whitley, along with their father, Jeffrey Nelson. Survived by her brothers, Ernie, John, Robert and Mark Harry, all of Atlanta, GA. Survived by her cherished parti-poodle, Charlie, and many extended family members and friends. Nancy was born and raised in the deep South, but made Minnesota her home after graduating from Georgia Tech with a chemical engineering degree and accepting a job with 3M. She made a career change early, attending the U of M Medical School, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She practiced medicine in the Twin Cities for many years, first in primary care and later as a hospitalist. She followed her heart and went back to school at age 57 to complete a Palliative Care Fellowship at the U of M, and thereafter practiced palliative medicine at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Caring for seriously ill patients and their families was her dream job, and Nancy was deeply grateful for her fellowship training and the opportunity to practice at Allina Health. Staying connected to her "palliative care tribe" at the U of M and ANW Hospital was a joyful constant until the end of her life. Nancy was passionate about her children, her partner, and her work. She loved the out-of-doors and was an inveterate jogger in all seasons. Nancy loved cooking and was an avid reader and writer, keeping many journals. She was crazy about dogs. Nancy is deeply grateful to her medical team for guiding her on her cancer journey. Her fears were greatly eased by her trust in them, particularly Dr. John Seng, Dr. Cassandra Anderson, Kjellan Ellis RN, and Dr. Michelle Ragen. Nancy is also very grateful that as she lived with cancer and its treatment, her friends stepped FORWARD and their friendships deepened. She was ever buoyed by the constant support, love and prayers of her friends and family. Memorials preferred to the local Animal Humane Society (animalhumanesociety.org). Memorial service will be announced on her Caring Bridge website.
