A motorcyclist was killed early Monday after he hit a deer near Princeton, Minn., was thrown from his bike and then hit by oncoming traffic as he lay on the pavement.
Lonnie Mayo, 53, of Princeton was headed east on Hwy. 95 when he hit a deer in the vicinity of 107th Avenue about 2:42 a.m.
His 2015 Harley Davidson slid and overturned after the contact, and Mayo landed in the westbound lanes, the State Patrol said.
An oncoming GMC pulling a trailer swerved to miss an object, but the trailer struck Mayo as he lay on the pavement. A westbound semitrailer truck following the GMC also struck Mayo, the patrol said.
Mayo was wearing a helmet, but was declared dead at the scene, the patrol said.
Neither the GMC driver nor the semitrailer truck driver were injured. Both were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
