A motorcycle crash shortly after sunset in west-central Minnesota has left one person dead and another clinging to life, authorities in Douglas County said Wednesday.

The wreck occurred about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday north of Brandon on westbound County Road 108, according to the Sheriff's Office.

One of two motorcycles traveling together crashed into a ditch to south of the road, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said emergency personnel declared 49-year-old Jeanine C. Kirscht, of Brandon, dead at the scene, while the motorcycle's operator, 44-year-old Shawn A. Olson, also of Brandon, was taken by air ambulance to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries.
