In keeping with its Memorial Day tradition, Lakewood Cemetery invited the public on Monday to honor those killed in military service and deceased loved ones. The day began with a service at the Soldiers Memorial and continued with activities such as trolley tours of Lakewood's art, history and gardens. The Minneapolis cemetery also offered arts and crafts for children. Attending with their dad, Tom Leier, were Sullivan Leier, 7, and his sister, Ellen, 5, who ventured onto the Soldiers Memorial. Other participants included Maj. Steven Svoboda, the wing chaplain of the 934th Airlift Wing, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station, who delivered the main address.
