One person was killed Friday and another was injured when the vehicle they were in crashed and launched them out of their seats on Interstate 35 north of the Twin Cities.

A Chevrolet truck was heading south on the highway when it struck a guardrail and then rolled into a median about 12:15 p.m. north of Wyoming, Minn., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Two passengers in the vehicle were ejected.

One person died and the other passenger was transported to a hospital. A southbound traffic backup stretched for about 5 miles between Wyoming and Forest Lake after the accident. The names of the people involved have not been released.

At least one person in the truck did not have a seat belt on, according to the agency.
