After making a stand against their toughest division opponent Wisconsin the week before, Northwestern lost 29-20 to languishing Michigan State this past Saturday. A trip to the Big Ten Championship Game is essentially booked for Northwestern, but the loss puts a big blemish on the Wildcats that the College Football Playoff selection committee can't unsee.
