A year ago, when Seimone Augustus tore her ACL in a game against the Phoenix Mercury, she was forced to scrounge up some new hobbies. Tuesday she got the news that she could put down the video games and reclaim her favorite pastime: playing basketball.
"She's got a swagger about her," Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said after Augustus was cleared to play. Reeve said she would be using the guard "in spurts" until she regained full conditioning. Augustus, who underwent season-ending surgery last July, had an abdominal surgery to remove three non- cancerous fibroids in May.
The fifth-year player, after undergoing her first full workout of 2010 last week, said she's raring to go.
As for the video games?
"I'm putting that down," Augustus said with a laugh. "I owe my little cousin a butt-whoopin' in Madden tonight, but after that I'm focusing on Phoenix and L.A."
The Lynx (2-7) play in Phoenix on Thursday.
