Lynx guard Aerial Powers had surgery Friday morning to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in her right thumb, which was injured during the team's victory over Los Angeles Saturday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Sanjeev Kakar at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and is expected to keep Powers sidelined eight to 10 weeks.
Ten weeks would mean Powers would be out until late August. But, because of the summer Olympic games – and the month-long break the WNBA is taking during that time – Powers could still return with regular season games left on the schedule. The Lynx begin their final stretch of eight regular season games on Aug. 31.
