Here we go, it's time for some big football games as we hit Week 6. Conference and section ramifications abound all over the state this week. The biggie in the Suburban East Conference has No. 2 Cretin-Derham Hall at No. 7 Stillwater in a matchup of unbeatens. Stillwater is on a very nice roll but I think Cretin has too many, uh, horses for the Ponies. Out in the Wright County Conference, multiple-defending state champ Glencoe-Silver Lake plays at Delano in another game between 5-0 teams. Glencoe's defense is giving up an average of 1.2 points per game, and that's why I'm picking the Panthers to stay undefeated. There's a nice inter-conference game at Lakeville North, with No. 3 Wayzata coming to town. Wayzata's first-string defense has not given up a point – we're continuing a theme here – and I'm taking the Trojans by three touchdowns. Andover will try to stay unbeaten in the Northwest Suburban, taking on upset-minded Anoka.Outside the Metro Top 10, I like Hutchinson to defeat New Prague and grab hold of the Missota Conference race. There are lots of important outstate games this week, as well. I've listed a few of the biggiest (is that a word?) below, and my winners are Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Minneota, East Central, New Ulm Cathedral (sorry Rabbits) and Hawley. I'll offer a post-game recap of my picks – we call it the "Sacred Parchment" -- during what has become a weekly Internet tradition: Football Night in Millea's Dog Cave. A cat somehow made a surprise appearance last week … and the angry weiner dog is even angrier than usual.
