Services will be held Saturday for Archie Walker Jr. of Sarasota, Fla., the grandson of lumber baron T. B. Walker of Walker Art Center fame.

Walker, 88, died April 17 in Vancouver, Wash., of an autoimmune disease.

The longtime Wayzata resident was a graduate of Minneapolis' Washburn High School.

He became a pilot during his teens and during World War II served in the Army Air Forces, teaching celestial navigation.

Walker was a car dealer in the Twin Cities and was a state and national leader in Ducks Unlimited.

In 1972, he moved to Bliss, Idaho, to raise cattle.

He had been a recovering alcoholic since the early 1960s and was a trustee for Hazelden treatment centers. In Gooding, Idaho, he founded the Walker Center, a treatment facility.

His son Archie III died in 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Amy; daughters Katherine Griffith of St. Paul and Lita West of Carey, Idaho; son Stephen of Amity, Ore.; sister Louise McCannel of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Av., Minneapolis.
