Every Thursday, Black Lives Matter supporters line West Schlieman Ave outside the City Offices in Appleton, MN. And every Thursday, supporters of President Trump gather to counter the message. These dueling protests have become a regular feature of life in this town of 1,400 residents on the state's western edge. On Thursday afternoon, August 13, 2020 about 45 social justice supporters and 15 supporters of President Trump gathered on the same side of West Schlieman Ave. to share their respective messages with passing motorists.
