Authorities have identified a homicide victim whose beaten body was found seven weeks ago in her north Minneapolis home.
Kim L. Theng, 54, died from blows to the head on Nov. 17 after being taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday. No arrests have been announced.
A call to law enforcement about 9:20 a.m. sent officers to Theng's home in the 3300 block of N. Sheridan Avenue, where they discovered her unconscious, police said.
Theng was taken to the hospital by emergency responders and died a little more than an hour later, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
Police have classified Theng's death as suspicious since the day officers found her.
Authorities didn't say why it took so many weeks for her identity to be disclosed.
Theng had been in a physically abusive relationship for the past five years, daughter Sonitha Tep wrote on an online fundraising page that was started in part so Theng's ashes could be escorted back to her native Cambodia.
"When I last spoke to my mom on the Friday before she was found, she told me over text that she was going to spend the night at a hotel," Tep wrote. "On Monday November 16th she did not show up for work or call in, and nobody heard from her that day."
