Zach Parise's first goal of the season Sunday marked the 300th goal of his career. The Wild star also scored goal No. 301 in the 6-3 loss to the New York Islanders to become just the third Minnesota-born player to reach this milestone.
In honor of the milestone, we're highlighting five of Parise's best career goals/games in no particular order:
Jan. 9, 2010
Parise scored New Jersey's first overtime goal of the season for a 2-1 win against Montreal. Here is how the Associated Press described it: "Parise, who had gone to the bench for a new stick after breaking one in the Devils' zone, was left alone behind Montreal's defense and took Travis Zajac's long pass at the blue line. 'I was hiding along the side blue line, and luckily Travis won the battle when he did and they didn't have enough time to get back,' said Parise, who drove in to put a backhander past Jaroslav Halak 2:38 into the extra period."
April, 26, 2015
Parise scored a shorthanded goal to jumpstart the Wild's big offensive night in which he scored two goals to help complete the first-round playoff series victory over St. Louis. The AP wrote "Minnesota was killing an early penalty when Zach Parise snagged a loose puck in the neutral zone, raced away from St. Louis and triggered a huge roar from the home crowd with his highlight-reel goal off a bad-angle shot."
Oct. 5, 2005
Parise scored his first career goal on the power play assisted by former Gophers star Paul Martin. He also had an assist in the game and became just the 12th Devils player to score in his NHL debut. The AP wrote "Parise drew the biggest crowd reaction of the night by making it 2-0 with a power-play goal … ."
April 19, 2009
Parise scored the first goal in the third game of the playoff series against Carolina and later assisted the game-winning overtime goal. He was the third star of the game that night and had scored in three consecutive games.
Oct. 8, 2015
Parise kicked off the 2015-2016 campaign in Colorado with a hat trick, his first of three last season. He completed the hat trick scoring the eventual game-winning goal on the power play midway through the third period.
We can't forget about Parise's goal at the 2010 Winter Olympics against Canada, though it doesn't count towards his NHL career goal totals. It is still worth watching.
