Kevin Love's bruised knee was a hot topic among his teammates Thursday. Expressing their concern? Inquiring about the pain? Dispensing medical advice? Hardly. The basic message was: Knock off the theatrics. "They were telling me this morning, 'You should be a Hollywood actor,' " Love said of the none-too-sympathetic Timberwolves. " 'You scared a lot of people.' " True. When Love's knee slammed into Corey Maggette's with three minutes to play, dropping him to the ground writhing in pain while he held his left knee, there was an immediate hush in the Target Center. The words "season-ending knee surgery" must have occurred to just about every ticket-holder in the place. But not to Love. "I knew it wasn't anything serious. It's happened to me before," the second-year forward said. "But when you bump an elbow or a knee, it hurts so bad, you don't want to get up for a minute." When he finally did, Love was helped to the locker room. He walked off the pain and returned to the floor in time to play the final minute or so of the Wolves' loss to Golden State. Love limped slightly through Thursday's practice, and showed off the beginning of what he expects will be a dark purple bruise in a day or two. "Corey Maggette's a brick. It was throbbing for awhile," Love said. "That's the worst one I've ever had." Shouldn't keep him out of the lineup, though. He expects to be fine for Friday's game against Indiana. "It comes with the territory," he said. "You're going to get scratches, you're going to need Band-Aids, you're going to break your hand. It happens." When it happens next time, though, he'll remember his teammates' advice. "I'll try not to be so dramatic about it, I guess," Love said. -- PHIL MILLER
