A suicidal woman from Cloquet, Minn., was in critical condition Friday after an officer-involved shooting at a church near Duluth.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reported that the woman, 48, had been sitting in a vehicle outside Augustana Lutheran Church and had threatened to kill herself with a firearm just before 11 p.m. Thursday. Authorities were on the scene through midmorning Friday.
The woman got out of her vehicle and threatened officers with the firearm. Two officers shot, hitting her twice, the Sheriff's Office reported.
She is being treated at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
