A Brooklyn Park woman is in a medically induced coma after she was repeatedly stabbed by her husband in front of their children, according to court charges filed Friday.

Jethro Togar Gboeah, 34, stands charged with felony first-degree assault and violating a no-contact order in connection with the attack. He was charged in May with domestic assault against his wife. At 9 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to their apartment in the 8300 block of Zane Avenue N. and found her lying in her apartment building hallway, bleeding severely from about 30 stab wounds to her neck, chin, left arm, stomach and back. She was sent into surgery to stop the bleeding and placed in a coma.

Police say their children reported that they watched their father enter the apartment building, strangle their mother, and say he would kill her before repeatedly stabbing her.

Gboeah had been arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault in May. Following his arrest, Judge Susan Robiner released him without having to pay bail and ordered him to stay away from his wife. The case was pending with a settlement conference scheduled for Monday and a trial scheduled for Aug. 29.

Gboeah is being held in the Hennepin County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
