Wisconsin emergency personnel responded by boat to a report of a possible drowning on the St. Croix River on Saturday.

A 40-year-old woman, who was not identified, was taken to the Osceola Medical Center and later flown to Regions Hospital, according to a statement from the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Her condition Saturday evening was unknown, the office said.

Osceola Fire and Ambulance responded to a 911 call from an area south of the Osceola landing at about 1:40 p.m. The woman was already receiving CPR when responders arrived.

The woman and members of her family were camping on an island on the Wisconsin side of the river, the sheriff's statement said. While walking in the river, the woman apparently fell and went underwater.
