Greetings from Target Center. Youngblood here. I'll be covering the game tonight, with Jerry Z. taking over tomorrow. On paper, this would look like a Wolves victory. On paper. Injuries are keeping three key Charlotte players out of the lineup: Guard Stephen Jackson (a team-best 18.4-point average), forward Gerald Wallace (16.5) and center Nazr Mohammed (8.9). Those three players combined for 63 points against the Wolves when the Bobcats beat the Wolves 113-110 in Charlotte Nov. 15. But don't forget how the Wolves managed to lose to a Denver team at Target Center that was without Carmelo Anthony, Nene, Kenyon Martin and Al Harrington. But I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a victory. The team has been playing pretty well of late and a victory tonight would their fourth in six games. The Wolves just have to keep D.J. Augustin from straying anywhere near Chauncey Billups territory. Know this: Wolves coach Kurt Rambis reminded his guys of that Denver game, when Billups carried the injury-riddled Nuggets to a victory. "I think our guys are extremely frustrated that we haven't found a way to get over the hump, even though we're playing much better basketball than we were a couple months ago," Rambis said before the game. "They were reminded of what the situation was with Denver." That line was delivered with a slight smile, which makes me think that was a rather forceful reminder. By the way, a victory would also even the Wolves' home record at 8-8. Other pre-game notes: --Rambis is sticking with his guns on Anthony Tolliver's return. Tolliver has been lobbying to return right away, but Rambis said Tolliver, whose right knee will be rechecked before he returns to a game, is still pointed towards a Sunday return. --Center Kosta Koufos, whose nose was broken a while back by an errant – and accidental – elbow from Martell Webster – got hit in the head again Thursday by Tolliver. This time his jaw got the brunt of the blow. "There is something about Kosta's head that has a magnet for contact," Rambis said. Koufos is good to play, but he'll be wearing that clear mask for a while. --Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn confirmed that he intends to send film of the traveling call on Luke Ridnour at the end of the Boston game to the league for review. It's not like he's protesting the call, he just wants to league to look at it. "I'd like the league to tell us, is it or isn't it?'' Kahn said. "I do feel it was close." That's about it. Have a good night and I'll try to get back to you after the game.
