Pistons outran Wolves last time

Preview: Two 10-5 teams meet with the Timberwolves looking to atone for a 122-101 loss in Detroit Oct. 25, when the Pistons had six players score in double figures and outscored the Jimmy Butler-less Wolves 24-0 on the break. The Wolves have tied the franchise record for best start after 15 games and have won three straight. The Pistons have lost two in a row after having won five in a row and 10 of 13. This is the front end of a back-to-back for the Wolves, who will play in Charlotte on Monday night.

Players to watch: Three Wolves players are coming off double-doubles at Dallas on Friday night: F Taj Gibson (10 points, 11 rebounds), C Karl-Anthony Towns (15 and 11) and G Jeff Teague (15 points, 10 assists). … Detroit F Tobias Harris matched a career high with 34 points in the victory over the Wolves. C Andrew Drummond had 15 points and 15 rebounds in that game.

Numbers: Detroit has won five in a row against the Wolves. The Wolves' 36-point edge over Dallas in the second half Friday was the biggest such margin in a half in team history. The Wolves are 5-1 at home. The 13 three-pointers the Wolves hit against the Mavericks were a season high, as were their 30 attempts.

Injuries: Wolves C Justin Patton (foot) is out. Pistons F Jon Leuer (ankle) is doubtful.
