The intoxicating floral and cherry aromas belie this French red's dark color, as do the downright friendly flavors and texture. There's a peppery edge to the blue and red berry notes, and the midpalate and finish are firm but smooth. This pretty red benefits from a slight chill, making it perfect for late summer/early autumn. The brisk acidity means serious versatility at the table, with options ranging from tapas and mildly spicy Asian dishes to salumi, grilled chicken or pork and roasted fall veggies.
