Biohof Pratsch Grüner Veltliner 2015

Like rosé several years ago, grüner veltliner is seriously popular on both coasts but not so much in the heartland. The Biohof Pratsch Grüner Veltliner 2015 ($16 for 1-liter bottles) is a great way to understand what all the fuss is about: great minerally bursts layered with tropical/citrus/stone fruit flavors that coat the palate forever and ever. It's bold yet friendly, with tons of verve and energy. The vineyards have been certified organic since 1995, and every vintage I've tasted of this Austrian white has been downright swell. This is an incredible sushi wine and ideally suited for salads, dishes with green herbs; it even cozies up to the always challenging duo of artichoke and asparagus.

Available at Eden Prairie munis, 1st Grand, South Lyndale, Hennepin Lake, Lunds & Byerlys, Franklin Nicollet and Cellars.
