2014 Chateau Cailleteau Bergeron Côtes de Blaye

Really good, nicely priced Bordeaux reds continue to hit local shelves and restaurant lists. One major stalwart is the 2014 Chateau Cailleteau Bergeron Côtes de Blaye ($19), a blend of 80 percent merlot and 10 percent each cabernet sauvignon and malbec. Crafted by the wife-husband team of Marie-Pierre and Pierre-Charles Dartier, it's got a big ol' friendly nose, firm red and black fruit and tannins (love the midpalate heartiness and grip) and a dry, refined finish. This is one persistent pup. Duck lovers will relish pairing it with this robust red, which also should play well with hard cheeses and most any roasted veggies or meats.

Available at Selby Wine & Spirits, Lake Wine & Spirits, Hennepin Lake and South Lyndale
