Denver – Wild coach Bruce Boudreau missed Sunday night's preseason game against the Colorado Avalanche because of the death of his brother.

Assistant John Anderson served as the acting coach in a 5-1 loss at the Pepsi Center. Boudreau was behind the bench when the Wild beat Colorado 2-1 on Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center, but he did not attend the postgame news conference.

Marcus Foligno scored the Wild's only goal, on the power play at 19:21 of the first period. Colorado, which outshot the Wild 39-29, did all its scoring in the second and third periods. Nathan McKinnon had two goals.

Niklas Svedberg started in goal for the Wild (3-1 in the preseason) and stopped all 17 shots he faced. He was relieved by Steve Michalek (17 saves on 22 shots).

The Avalanche had nine power plays.
