A driver rolled his pickup truck early Sunday going from one freeway to another in St. Paul and was thrown to his death, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 3:15 a.m. on the ramp from southbound 280 to eastbound Interstate 94 on the western edge of St. Paul, according to the State Patrol.

The driver was identified Sunday as 33-year-old Christopher Michael Kelly, of Newport, and he was not wearing his seat belt, the patrol said.

As the pickup was leaving Hwy. 280 for I-94, the vehicle "hit the median wall and began to roll," the patrol said in a statement. "The driver of the vehicle was ejected ... before the vehicle came to rest on its roof."
