Two Scandia residents were found dead at their home Saturday night and a firearm was found at the scene, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Sheriff Dan Starry identified the victims as Melissa Seefert, 65, and Clarence Seefert, 66, a married couple.

Starry said there was no threat to the public, but he declined to discuss the circumstances of how the Seeferts died until the Ramsey County medical examiner completes the autopsies.

The sheriff said his office wasn't seeking any suspects.

When Clarence Seefert failed to show up for a meeting, a caller asked for a welfare check at 19435 Olinda Trail N., Scandia, at 9:56 p.m. Saturday.

After deputies discovered the bodies, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called to assist at the crime scene, Starry said.

The Sheriff's Office hadn't made any prior visits to the residence for domestic disturbances, Starry said.

Scandia is a city of about 4,000 residents in rural Washington County, east of Forest Lake. Scandia contracts with the Sheriff's Office for law enforcement.
