Two men are charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Minneapolis' Little Earth housing complex.

Andrew Townsend and Brandyn Wilson, both 21, are scheduled to make their first court appearance Thursday on one count each of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the Oct. 9 shooting. The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the Hennepin County attorney's office, police were called at 10:50 p.m. to investigate a gunshot where they found the boy lying on the ground in the backyard of a townhome in the 2400 block of Ogema Place. Witnesses said they saw three men in the area — two of them Townsend and Wilson — and Townsend was carrying a pistol. They also heard a man use the boy's nickname before the shot was fired, charges said.

Surveillance video shows the three men in an altercation. A minute later, they are shown walking toward the townhouses at 2216-2422 Ogema Place. About 10 seconds later, the video shows the teenager falling to the ground and soon after, the three men running away. Charges do not indicate a motive for the shooting.

Both men remain in the Hennepin County jail, where prosecutors say they will seek $500,000 bail for each of them.
