TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are only 9-15 in June, yet it's been their most successful month by far, following a seven-win April and an eight-win May. … They are 0-6 against the White Sox this season and have been outscored 30-9. They have been held to one run by Chicago three times and shut out once. Their longest losing streak to the White Sox is eight games, in 1995. … They are 8-26 on the road, and have lost seven of their past nine. They are 1-32 when scoring three runs or fewer. … Eduardo Nunez is 10-for-23 (.435) with two home runs against Shields. … Joe Mauer is 11-for-32 (.344) against Quintana, 15-for-43 (.349) against Shields and 2-for-6 (.333) against Rodon. Mauer needs 12 RBI to pass Torii Hunter for sixth-most in Twins history (Hunter has 792), but he has not driven in a run since June 15. … Kurt Suzuki has 14 RBI in his past 13 games and is batting .379 in his past 18 games.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

Chicago has won five of seven games to return to .500 on the season. But after leading the AL Central by six games on May 9, when the White Sox were 23-10, they have gone 15-28 and fallen 7½ games behind first-place Cleveland. The White Sox are 19-18 at home. … 3B Todd Frazier has 21 home runs, one behind major league leader Mark Trumbo. … Hitting with runners in scoring position has become a problem; Chicago went 1-for-25 with runners in scoring position through a 16-inning stretch last weekend. … Quintana started the season 5-1 with a 1.38 ERA but is 0-6 with a 4.50 ERA in his past eight starts. … Shields, acquired earlier this month from San Diego, has been terrible. In four starts, he has a 15.80 ERA, giving up 24 earned runs in just 13⅔ innings. … Former Twins 1B Justin Morneau signed in early June but remains on the disabled list as he recovers from offseason elbow surgery.
