So far, the Twins have fared well against lefthanded starters, posting a 5-1 record on the days they throw. That includes an Opening Day win over Danny Duffy and two wins over Jose Quintana.

The one loss was last week to Detroit when Matt Boyd started and led the Tigers to a 2-1 victory. And Boyd is back on the mound this afternoon as the Twins try to win the first two games of this series. Boyd held the Twins to just one hit - a Robbie Grossman single - over six innings in his outing a week ago, so it's back to the drawing board for manager Paul Molitor.

With a lefty on the mound and it being a day game after a night game, Joe Mauer is not in the starting lineup. Same for catcher Jason Castro, as Chris Gimenez is behind the plate today. The first baseman is Miguel Sano, who is making his second start there.

"The best," Sano said as he looked over a reporter's shoulder at the lineup. "I make good plays there."

Eddie Rosario, who homered last night, and Max Kepler, who leads the Twins with 17 hits, remain in the lineup.

Adalberto Mejia is on the mound for the Twins. The Tigers are 4-1 against lefthanded starters.

This is Torii Hunter's second day as an FSN commentator. He said his first broadcast went fairly well until Dick Bremer handed him the disclaimer to read and he stumbled over the word, 'disseminate.'

Tigers

TBA - Miguel Cabrera pulled his groin muscle last night and left the game early. Everyone is waiting to find out if Cabrera will put himself in the lineup today.

UPDATE: Cabrera has been placed on the DL. Still no lineup, though.
