The Twins and infielder Eduardo Escobar have agreed to a $4.85 million contract for next season, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.
The 29-year-old was one of six arbitration-eligible Twins players. Friday is the deadline for those players and the team to exchange contract figures.
Escobar was pressed into regular duty at third base in 2017 when Miguel Sano was injured. Escobar responded with 21 home runs and 73 RBI, with a .254/.309/.449 slash line.
The other arbitration-eligible Twins are outfielder Robbie Grossman; pitchers Kyle Gibson, Ryan Pressly and Trevor May; and infielder Ehire Adrianza.
